May - November, 2010 Sheriff Shively's Storehouse - music & more on The Crooked Road, Saturday afternoons. Information: 540-483-1890. Food, mini museum, history theme publications, tales. Hosted by Lane & Sue Rakes.
   
Oct. 16 & 23, 2010 "Ghosts & More" Saturdays, Oct. 16 & 23. Meet "characters" long and recently dead to hear true tales of ghostly sightings, murder and intrigue. Tickets $13 per person. Ride a vintage tour bus through the streets of Rocky Mount with a guide. Tickets by phone with Visa or Mastercard, by mail with a check or in person either way. Aug. 7, 2010 Dedication of new Confederate Monument on the Franklin County courthouse green. 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. Keynote speaker Dr. James I. Robertson Jr., distinguished history professor VA Tech. Living history encampment at The Grove, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed during the ceremony) with artillery demonstration including cannon, re-enactors, 1860s period attire. Visit the N. Morris Building across from the courthouse to purchase souvenirs and to enjoy The Flora Morris Memorial Civil War Exhibit for free.
